African Union Commission: The AMHEWAS Situation Room for Disaster Risk Reduction is open for business

The African Union Commission (AUC) has established, with the support of the Government of Italy, the Africa Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Early Action System situation room for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMHEWAS) at its premises in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  



The AMHEWAS Situation Room is an IGAD Disaster Operation Centre’s Situation Room, and ACMAD Advisory Situation Room. This room benefits of the financial support of the Government of Italy and the technical support by United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and CIMA Research Foundation.

The inauguration of the room is planned on 28 February 2022, 1645-1700. The hand over will be done by H.E Marina Sereni, Vice-Minister of Italian Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who is also scheduled to visit AUC for bilateral discussions with H.E. Amb. Josefa L.C. Sacko, Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (DARBE).
