The OSFAC 2021 Virtual Workshop event will be hosted virtually by START and held on Monday, July 12 - Tuesday, July 13, 2021 (3:00pm - 5:15pm Kinshasa Time | 10:00am - 12:15pm EST).

The general theme of the workshop is "Monitoring the forests of the Congo Basin for sustainable management: National monitoring systems, thematic studies and access to data". There will be the participation of experts representing governmental and international institutions, academic and research
structures, NGOs, organizations providing geospatial data, etc.
This workshop, which is supported by NASA, will serve to reinforce the commitment of the Global Observation for Forest and Land Cover Dynamics (GOFCGOLD) which is a coordinated international program aimed at providing continuous spatial and in situ observations of the Earth's surface for support the sustainable management of land resources at different scales.

OSFAC is a partner of one of the GMES and Africa Project in Central Africa, led by the "Commission Internationale du Bassin Congo-Oubangui-Sangha (CICOS) – Kinshasa, and dealing with the Management of Water and Natural Resources in Central Africa. OSFAC is more specifically in charge of the Service 3 of CICOS, i.e. the Monitoring of the dynamics of wetlands under forests in the central basin.
