African Union: At the Expo2020 in Dubai, gender is in the spotlight

Three related events are announced for the African Union pavilion. They promote the culture of adaptation, innovation, disruption, values that are endorsed by the GMES program, et push forward opportunities for women empowerment.

1. Building a digital Society to increase economic inclusion. Leadership demands a diverse set of qualities and skills. Particularly for women in digital careers, this means combining technical knowledge with strong leadership capabilities and successfully managing the evolution from a technical specialist to a strategic decision maker. As the sector has evolved, women need to adopt an innovation culture keen to capitalize on disruption and new opportunities. For next-generation leaders in this environment, it is imperative to become more adaptive, drive successfully transformation, lead through times of ambiguity, and demonstrate value with breakthrough innovation.

2. Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality: The conference will bring  together experts and practitioners working for key institutions engaged in the finance domain (such as development agencies, NGOs, financial institutions, Micro Finances Institutions, ministries of finance, etc.), with the aim to exchange experiences, showcase good practices, and share the lessons learned regarding the financial inclusion of women

3. African Women in Business Exhibition & Conference: This event will give an opportunity for African women entrepreneurs to get the exposure to the world’s huge market and to explore opportunities to enter this huge market and promote “Made in Africa” products.

Connections with the AUC Agenda 2063 and GMES and Africa

Rely on the potential of women (and youth) is one of the 7 aspirations of AU for the "Africa We Want". 
The vision promotes the elimination of gender disparities at all levels of education, the empowerment of women to play their rightful role in all spheres of life with equal social, political and economic rights, including (among others) the rights to own and inherit property, sign contracts, register and manage businesses. It underlines along with the young their transformative role i.e. as drivers of change.  
The vision recognizes the Young African men and women will be the path breakers of the African knowledge society and will contribute significantly to innovation and entrepreneurship. The creativity, energy and innovation of Africa’s youth shall be the driving force behind the continent’s political, social, cultural and economic transformation. More... 

The 2nd phase of G&A (2022-2025) will develop specific activities to support the inclusion of Women and Young professional (Women Academies)
