Africa Accelerates in AI and Space with SIADE 2025

The first International Exhibition on Artificial Intelligence, Defence, and Space (SIADE) took place on 20-21 February 2025 at the Parc des Expositions in Abidjan-Port-Bouët. The President of the Council of the African Space Agency was a special guest.

Africa is determined to play a key role in the ongoing technological revolutions by fully integrating artificial intelligence and the space industry into its development strategy. These sectors are now widely recognised as essential drivers of economic and security transformation across the continent, perfectly aligning with the ambitions of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.  

SIADE 2025 is part of this momentum. By bringing together public and private stakeholders as well as leading experts, the exhibition provided a privileged platform for dialogue, featuring conferences led by renowned specialists. The President of the Council of the African Space Agency (AfSA), Dr Tidiane OUATTARA, was present, advocating for this rapidly evolving sector and the opportunities it offers for the continent.  

In recent years, three major technology exhibitions dedicated to disruptive innovations, including space technologies, have emerged in Africa: the New Space Africa Conference (NSAC), the Artificial Intelligence, Defence, and Space Exhibition (SIADE), and the African Market for Space Solutions (MASS). Some of these events benefit from the support of the African Union/AfSA and the GMES & Africa programme.

L'Afrique est résolue à jouer un rôle clé dans les révolutions technologique en cours,  en intégrant pleinement l’intelligence artificielle et l’industrie spatiale à sa stratégie de développement. Ces secteurs sont désormais largement reconnus comme des moteurs essentiels de transformation économique et sécuritaire à travers le continent, en parfaite adéquation avec les ambitions de l’Agenda 2063 de l’Union africaine.  

SIADE 2025 s’inscrit dans cette dynamique. En réunissant acteurs publics et privés ainsi que des experts de premier plan, ce salon a offert une plateforme privilégiée d’échanges, avec des conférences animées par des spécialistes de renom. Le Président du Conseil de l’Agence spatiale africaine (AfSA), le Dr Tidiane OUATTARA, était présent. Il a plaidé en faveur de ce secteur en pleine évolution et des opportunités qu’il représente pour le continent.  

Au cours des dernières années, trois grands salons technologiques dédiés aux technologies de rupture, y compris les technologies spatiales, ont émergé en Afrique : la New Space Africa Conference (NSAC), Le Salon de l'Intelligence Artificielle, de la Défense, et de l'Espace (SIADE) et le Marché Africain des Solutions Spatiales (MASS). Certains de ces événements bénéficient du soutien de l’Union africaine/AfSA et du programme GMES & Africa.
