Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, GMES & Africa Programme Coordinator To Speak At ISU Alumni Conference 2019
The world needs to know what is going on in Africa’s space industry, and in a matter of weeks, one of the leaders of the African space industry will be in Europe elaborating on the major strides that have been made in the African space ecosystem.
Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, Space Expert with the African Union Commission and Programme Coordinator for GMES and Africa, will be lecturing on space activities in Africa on July 27 at the International Space University (ISU), Strasbourg, France. This lecture is one of the activities that have been scheduled as part of the programme of events in respect of the ISU Alumni Conference, which will take place in Strasbourg from July 26 to 28, 2019.
Dr. Ouattara’s lecture, slated for 3.00pm local time, will take place after the TEDx ISU event, scheduled to take place earlier that same day at the ISU Campus Centre. There are plans to have the TED talk and the lecture webcast live and/or recorded on ISU’s YouTube channel.
Dr. Tidiane Ouattara obtained a Master’s degree in Physical Geography from Université de Cocody-Abidjan (Côte-d’Ivoire). In 2001 he obtained a Ph.D, both in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS), from Sherbrooke University in Canada. He has tremendous experience in international relations and business development, research and development (R&D), strategic policy development and program management, in relation to the environment, natural resources, and science and technology.
The International Space University is dedicated to the discovery, research and development of outer space exploration for peaceful purposes, through international and multidisciplinary education and research programs. It is a not-for-profit interdisciplinary university founded in 1987 that offers a Master of Science in Space Studies (MSS) in addition to the flagship Space Studies Program (SSP), an annual professional development program that has convened every summer since 1988 at various locations around the world. The ISU faculty members include astronauts, space agency leaders, space engineers, space scientists, managers, and experts in space law and policy comprising an international collection of experts in technical and non-technical space-related fields.
