EUMETSAT: Follow online the 14th User Forum

 This Forum - held entirely online - is to discuss access and use of satellite data for weather and climate services, with a focus on the new Meteosat Third Generation, as well as on the Capacity building programmes funded by the EU and implemented by the African Union Commission.





The 1st day presents notably the EUMETSAT Data Access and User Services, and the EUMETSAT Training activities

The 2nd day is split in two parts, presents the MTG, gives a glance on related African Programs, GMES and Africa, SAWIDRA, ClimSA

  • EUMETSAT stands for European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites
  • They are a user-governed operational, intergovernmental organisation based in Darmstadt, Germany, formed in 1986, which serves the needs of its members states (currently 30). EUMETSAT operates the geostationary satellites Meteosat -9, -10 and -11 over Europe and Africa, and Meteosat-8 over the Indian Ocean. They also operate three Metop polar-orbiting satellites as part of the Initial Joint Polar System (IJPS) shared with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
  • EUMETSAT is an historical partner of the African Union Commission and supported the implementation of the precursors of the GMES and Africa Support Programme, i.e. PUMA/MTAP, AMESD and MESA.
