AUC, JRC and EUMETSAT are co-organizing two online trainings on usage and maintenance of the eStations

Training on Maintenance of the eStations on 25-27 October, 2021

The main goal of the Training for eStation Maintenance is to prepare the technical and system administrators of the GMES&Africa Institutions, especially those that received the eStation during year 2021 on the installation and maintenance of the systems, in order to smoothly operate the platforms and overcome the possible issues they can face.

In this respect, the workshop has the following objectives:
  • Present the structure and functioning of the MESA Station.
  • Introduce the eStation 2.0 application as core software component of the MESA Station.
  • Demonstrate the Software installation, update and configuration.
  • Illustrate how to perform the diagnostic on the Stations.
  • Describe the most common issues that can occur on the system and the corrective actions.
  • Review and address the issues that were encountered on the deployed stations (conduct a Survey beforehand and prepare a list of issues)
  • Indicate how the Helpdesk can be activated in case of Hardware/Software anomalies

Training on the Usage of eStations on 28-29 October 2021

The main goal of this training for is to equip the new recipient Institutions on the exploitation of the system, in order to be able to perform the visualization and analysis steps that lead to the generation of the maps and graphs on the available EO datasets. 

The training will be covering the following topics:
  • Overview of the eStation and its services (data acquisition, ingestion, processing)
  • Presentation of the EO datasets hosted on the eStation.
  • Access to the application (locally or online): Users definitions and roles.
  • Creating and customizing a Map.
  • Creation and usage of Legends.
  • Creating and customizing a graph (timeseries, matrices, ranking …).
  • Managing maps and graphs into Workspaces.
  • Layers upload and management.
  • Presentation and discussion on specific Case Studies

The eStation is also evolving into a full-stack portable software that is versatile for all the performance. Therefore the trainings will highlight interesting key features and capabilities of the software to allow institutions have more flexibility on data processing, analysis and visualization.
