GMES and Africa Training: JRC online sessions on eStation Maintenance

The JRC and GMES & Africa coordination, with the support of EUMETSAT, are organizing a new series of online Training sessions on the Maintenance of the eStations. The deadline for the registrations is 30th November 2022

The main goal is to prepare the technical and system administrators in the beneficiary Institutions (including beneficiaries of MESA, AMESD, PUMA, etc. stations) on the installation and maintenance of the systems for their smooth operations. 

 Date of the Sessions

  1. Session en anglais : 5-7 décembre 2022, 
  2. Session française : 19-21 décembre 2022

Although designed for IT and system administrators, the training is meant for as many interested people as possible, without limitation on attendance. 

Use the Registration Link by latest 30 November 2022. 

The main topics are to:

  1. Present the structure and functioning of the MESA Station.
  2. Introduce the eStation 2.0 application  as core software component of the MESA Station.
  3. Demonstrate the Software installation, update and configuration.
  4. Illustrate how to perform the diagnostic on the Stations.
  5. Describe the most common issues that can occur on the system and the corrective actions.
  6. Review and address the issues that were encountered on the deployed stations (conduct a Survey beforehand and prepare a list of issues)
  7. Indicate how the Helpdesk can be activated in case of Hardware/Software anomalies.

L'objectif principal est de préparer les administrateurs techniques et système dans les Institutions bénéficiaires (y compris les bénéficiaires des stations MESA, AMESD, PUMA, etc.) sur l'installation et la maintenance des systèmes pour leur bon fonctionnement. 

Dates des Sessions

  1. Session en anglais : 5-7 décembre 2022
  2. Session française : 19-21 décembre 2022

Bien que conçue pour les IT et les administrateurs de système, la formation est ouverte à toutes les personnes intéressées,, sans limitation. Utilisez le lien suivant pour vous inscrire, au plus tard le 30 novembre 2022. 

Les sujets suivants seront traités: 

  1. Présenter la structure et le fonctionnement de la station MESA.
  2. Présentez l'application eStation 2.0 en tant que composant logiciel de base de la station MESA.
  3. Démontrer l'installation, la mise à jour et la configuration du logiciel.
  4. Illustrez comment effectuer le diagnostic sur les stations.
  5. Décrire les problèmes les plus courants qui peuvent survenir sur le système et les actions correctives.
  6. Examiner et résoudre les problèmes rencontrés sur les stations déployées (réaliser une enquête au préalable et préparer une liste des problèmes)
  7. Indiquez comment le Helpdesk peut être activé en cas d'anomalies matérielles/logicielles.

  • The eStation, The eStation 2.0 is an Earth Observation processing system developed by the JRC since year 2009. The eStation is designed to automatically deal with the acquisition, processing, visualization and analysis of key environmental parameters derived from remotely sensed data. The measurements are, among others, obtained from the SPOT/PROBAV, SEVIRI/MSG, TERRA-AQUA/MODIS and Copernicus Sentinel 2 and 3 Earth Observation systems, https://estation.jrc.ec.europa.eu/
