The African Space Policy and Strategy takes center stage at the AASO symposium in Paris
The African Space Policy and Strategy was the subject of discussion at a Symposium on Aeronautics and Space Applications for Health in Africa which was held from 30 January to 1 February 2019 in Paris, at the headquarters of France National Center for Space Studies (CNES). The symposium was organized by the African Aeronautics & Space Organization (AASO).
Space science and technology is an important tool for ensuring sustainable use of land, marine and environmental resources in Africa. “The African Space Policy and strategy provides the guiding principles for a sustainable and effective space programme that will serve the needs of the African continent”, said Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, Space Science Expert and the GMES and Africa Programme Coordinator at the African Union Commission.
The symposium also discussed the contributions of Aeronautics and Space Applications for health. The AASO Symposium brought together 100 representatives of international, regional, national institutions, the private sector, and academia.
The African Aeronautics & Space Organization (AASO) aims to facilitate concrete actions for the sustainable development of the African continent.
